Artist Statement

Working primarily with 16mm film, my artistic practice explores the tensions and contradictions found in the intimate relationships we form. From sexuality and touch to familial bonds and interpersonal dynamics, I seek to express my own shifting states between frames and allow for irreconcilable feelings to speak simultaneously.

Bio

Kimberly Forero-Arnías is a filmmaker and animator whose work has screened across the United States at festivals including Flex Fest, Ann Arbor, Chicago Underground, and Black Maria, as well as internationally at Images Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival. She is the recipient of various awards, including the SMFA Traveling Fellowship and Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship (2013) and Finalist (2021). She currently lives and works in Boston, MA.
